Intel and AMD have been making processors for more than a decade now. But have you ever thought about which is better, Intel or AMD?

There has been a war between Intel and AMD for more than ten years. These two are the most prominent players in the processor industry. Almost every laptop or pc out there is powered by one of them. Can you name a single processor manufacturer other than these two? There isn’t any other player in the market to compete with these two. That is how badly these two giants have dominated the market.

Intel vs. AMD Which is Better?

Have you ever thought about which one of these two is better right now? That’s what we are going to cover in this article. Some people say Intel is better, and there are some who AMD. Which one is better? This is the best time to compare Intel vs. AMD because Intel just launched its 13th gen raptor lake processor. On the other hand, AMD launched its 7000 series processors.

A Brief History of Intel Vs. AMD

Although Intel and AMD are the biggest processor giants, this was not the scenario a few years back. Back then, Intel was the only big brand in the processor industry. People used to prefer Intel over AMD without any hesitation.

AMD processors were not that good back then. For this reason, Intel dominated the market in every segment. Then how did AMD manage to beat Intel in its game? The tables turned for AMD in 2015 when they launched their Ryzen series processors.

These Ryzen series processors came with groundbreaking technology at that time. The improvement AMD made with these processors was outstanding. The technology AMD launched at that time outplayed Intel completely. It felt like AMD surpassed Intel’s decade-over technology in one shot. Likewise, the processor war between Intel and AMD started.

Intel vs. AMD Detailed Comparison

Here, I will cover all the necessary points you should know so that you will have a better understanding of what you should choose.

Price Comparison

A few years back, AMD was everyone’s go-to choice for budget PCs because of the budget-friendly prices it used to offer. But this is not the case right now. Recently, AMD processor prices increased drastically. Now it is at par with Intel in terms of pricing. You will be amazed that some of its processors are even more expensive than Intel.

Speed Comparison

Suppose we were making this comparison some years ago. I would have chosen Intel without thinking twice. But the whole picture is completely different now. The battle is very close between these two.

Desktop Processor

It doesn’t matter whether you are a gamer looking for a gaming processor or want a processor that can do 3D designing or editing. Both Intel and AMD have great processors for every segment.

But the big question is who makes faster processors. We need to compare appropriately to determine the result of this endless debate. Let’s compare the best these two have to offer. The Intel Core i9-13900K is the best from Intel. It has 24 cores and (with a 16+24 combination) 32 threads. In comparison, the best from AMD is Ryzen 9(with 16 cores and 32 threads combination).

Both these processors can handle all the applications out there without any issues. In terms of multitasking, Intel is the winner. Because of the more core and thread combination. Whereas the tasks which rely more on the single core lean toward AMD

Let’s see which comes on top in the budget segment. This is the segment where you get the best value for money. You don’t have to opt for top-tier processors to get good performance. 200$ to 300$ is the sweet spot, where you get bang for buck deals.

Intel 13th generation i5-13600K is the best value-for-money processor. Although its rival AMD 7600x offers great value. But Intel i5 steals the show with its class-leading performance. Do you know what’s even better? It is still priced lower than the AMD 5600x. So Intel is the winner for desktop processors.

Laptop Processors

Although many types of processors are available in the market here, we will talk about the most used ones.

The story of the laptop market is different from that desktop. You will find more variety of processors in laptops. Here is some more info to give more light on this topic.

 U Series Processors

These processors consume low power. Generally, budget laptops are powered with U series processors. These processors are primarily focused on efficiency and battery life. You will see U series processors mainly in budget segment laptops.

H Series Processors

These processors are mainly found in gaming laptops. Although, there can be exceptions. H series processors consume more power than other processors. It would help if you plugged in laptops
powered by H series processors to make the best use of its power.

Final Verdict on Intel vs AMD

AMD is trying its best to beat Intel. Despite this, intel dominates the market. Both offer great performance. Moreover, you can go with either if you want to buy a good laptop. You will find a good laptop with either of them.

However, from its 13th-generation processors, Intel impressed us very much. Similar budget AMD processors need to be able to compete with raptor lake processors. Does that AMD isn’t worth buying? The answer is no.

AMD’s 5000 series processors are impressive. Although, Intel 13th generation raptor lake processors are better than 6000 series processors.

Still, these processors can handle all your needs without any issues.
So, it’s time to answer the question for which you are here, which is better between these two giants?

The best answer to this question is it depends on various factors. Don’t just go by the specs. Research properly about the laptop or desktop you are going to buy. Besides raw power, remember to check heating issues. It doesn’t matter how good a processor is. It will only perform well if heat management is good. Then decide what to choose.
